https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lischer-21:
"Johannes Lischer or Lesher was born in 1719, in what is today Germany. He was a son of John Lesher (1670-1723) and Anna Barbara Hegler (1682-1727)
He was of Mennonite parentage. After the death of his father he came to America in Sept. 1734 with his widowed mother Barbara, then 52; his brother Bastian, then 11; and a sister Maria then 17. John met up with the Moravians in Oley Twp., Berks Co., Pa., and was baptized in to that faith by Andreas (Andrew) Eschenbach at Oley Twp. in 1743.[1]
Immigration: 23 Sep 1734 qualified at the port of Philadelphia, aboard the ship Hope, last from Rotterdam, Daniel Ried, master. The passenger lists published by Egle (1890) include the following:
• Barbara Heglerin, age 52 [note that is her maiden name]
• Maria Leshrin (female), age 17
• Joanis Lesher, age 15
• Bostian Lesher, age 11
16 Apr 1759: marriage to Maria Catherine Loesch (1730-1802)[2]John Hirst and Friedrich Ziegler were also married in the same ceremony. They had the following children:
1 Maria m Samuel Russell
2 Johannes m Sarah Whitsell
3 John George m Anna Flickinger
4 Anna Elizabeth m Heinrich Bollinger
Johannes Lischer came with the first party of settlers in 1753 and was selected to be the future messenger between NC and PA, was to "study the road, the country, etc." He is last mentioned in the Records in 1758, and appears to have settled permanently in Pennsylvania thereafter. He is probably the John Lisher who married Maria Catharina Loesch, sister of Jacob and Hermannus.[3]
Buried: Nazareth Moravian Cemetery, Nazareth, Northampton, Pennsylvania.[4]
Will: of John Lescher of Bethlehem Twp. Sell all real and personal estate to pay debts and expenses, 1/3 of residue to dear wife, other 2/3 to children Mary, John, George, and Anna Elizabeth. Guardian is to be trusty friend Jacob Loesh, and joint executor with wife. Signed 19 Feb 1774.[5]
His wife died in 1802 in Stokes County North Carolina, but she is buried next to her husband in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
